This book introduces Vanishing Feast - An Heirloom Solution (VFAHS), www.vanishingfeast.com, a project that raises awareness of heirloom varieties of vegetables and the threat of extinction they face. According to a 1983 study by the Rural Advancement Foundation International, an estimated 93% of the varieties of vegetables grown in 1903 are now extinct. VFAHS encourages people to look at these heirloom varieties of vegetables as family heirlooms to plant in their garden. Jeff cites examples of heirloom plants from his own family as the inspiration for VFAHS. Future Tomatoes contains 22 exquisite full color photographs of tomato buds, along with a stories about the varieties from Jeff's garden in 2011.
