Eric and his wife, Michelle, were well seasoned parents, having eight children between them. Eric had become so well-versed in his duties as a parent he was certain he was immune from the mistakes that other parents made. That was his first mistake.

One summer morning in Texas, after a change in routine, Eric forgot his and Michelle's youngest son, Michael, in the back of the family van for nearly 90 minutes. Realizing his mistake, Eric rushed to the van, to find Michael barely alive. Eric used skills that he had learned earlier in life to keep Michael breathing until paramedics arrived, but the prognosis was not good. Michael nearly died several times while being transported to the hospital.

Over the next four days Michael received extensive medical care from the best trained professionals available, but Eric and Michelle were told to prepare for the worst. Having no where left to turn Eric and Michelle begged for Divine intervention, and God heard and answered their pleas.

Michael had suffered six strokes, affecting every aspect of his life. There were concerns that even if he did survive, he would be an invalid, confined to a wheelchair and in need of 24 hour a day assistance for the rest of his life.
