The book takes place in beautiful Southern England, in the county of Sussex, in a small picturesque town called Birchdale. The town is fictional, though other villages, towns and the city of London mentioned in the story actually exist. The two main characters, Ryan and Andie, were born and raised in Croydon, London. There is also a chapter which takes place in Provence, in Southern France, as the two main characters decide to go for a break there.
