Flora Royd, overweight and single but with her head full of dreams, feels stuck in a life from which she fears she will never escape. Kind and loving by nature, she wouldn't mind her role of carer for her handicapped mother if her mother were not so dominating and abusive. Flora's discovery that she possesses a great and unusual gift is the final encouragement she needs to stand up for herself; but will she find the courage she needs to go out to seek a new and different life where she can be happy and fulfilled?
