Trunk Line: Book Two FETCH! - Tales of the Orion Spur
Finder is a genius at finding things, but a lost, ancient alien species might be a find too far. Finder of the Retriever Clan of The Kind is a genius at finding things... Whether or not those things were lost to start with was a subject that he generally thought should involve some considerable distance from the person who might dispute his find. Ideally, several light years. But now he's found the jackpot. An alien ship, first contact for his species, the Kind.Still reeling from the events of Trunk Line, the crew of the Astra are back on old Earth for rest, relaxation, and questionable decision-making. But when a shadowy collector offers an obscene sum for a mysterious salvage, the promise of downtime evaporates.
Now hunted by a crime syndicate, embroiled in an interstellar plot, and facing threats from their own pasts, the crew find they are drawn to Gandrig in the misnamed Liberty Cluster and some of humanity's darkest secrets and for a first contact with an entirely new Kind of alien.
Action-packed, darkly funny, and brimming with space-trading chaos, complete with new aliens and, finally, an explanation for why the aliens are so very familiar.
Fast, sharp, and occasionally inappropriate, Fetch! is space opera that remembers to pack the hangover pills. Perfect for readers who like their science fiction grounded, character-driven, and just slightly out of control.
Like a truly funny Iain M. Banks. 5 stars!
Shows a comic lack of understanding of Libertarian philosophy... 1 star - well we can't win them all!
