Morgan Sumner, her college roommate, Summer Montgomery, and Morgan's 15 year-old brother Luke, are brought through time to a world that looks to them like a living Ren Faire or a Middle Ages reality program. They encounter Pegra, a Delegate to the Circle, a collective that evolved from those who survived the Great Devastation's plague that killed-off much of the human race and radically altered the planet's other surviving beings. The Circle brought the Morgan, Summer and Luke to its world in a desperate attempt to have Morgan find an artifact she had created at the time of the Great Devastation and which could cure that plague. Morgan was the Circle's only hope to find this artifact before Baylog, the leader of a brutal gang collective, could obtain it for himself.
As the Circle is the only place where Morgan, Summer and Luke can find out how to return to their world, they -- with Pegra's help -- must make their way to the Circle's headquarters while evading Baylog's troops searching for them.
