Vers Pour La Patrie, 1914-1918, edited by Pierre de Nolhac, is a poignant collection of French patriotic verse written during the First World War. Published shortly after the war's end, this anthology captures the emotional landscape of France during a time of profound national crisis. The poems reflect themes of sacrifice, courage, and love of country, offering a unique literary perspective on the war's impact on French society. Nolhac's selection provides a valuable historical and cultural record, preserving the voices of poets who sought to inspire and console their fellow citizens. This volume serves as a powerful reminder of the role of poetry in shaping national identity and preserving collective memory during times of conflict.
