The post only adds insult to injury since Lenormant hates wine. Soon, an annoying American neighbor will force him to look into a wine trafficking affair. The investigation leads him into the sidelines of the official wine industry where he discovers industrial espionage at the highest levels. He even takes his inquiry as far as Italy to interview a young winemaker who seems to be linked to his investigation. He finds the woman strangely troubling, but Lenormant refuses to lose track of his objective: putting law and order back into the Beaujolais business.
