Comme dans les ouvrages précédents, l'auteur déploie à travers le délire surréaliste et l'imaginaire fantastique une vision assez sombre et dérangeante de l'avenir de l'humanité. L'angoisse et l'effroi, tout comme le symbolisme, sont au premier plan.
Cependant, la préoccupation principale de l'auteur reste l'humanisme. Le lecteur trouvera également des préoccupations écologiques. Les textes émouvants et poignants parsemant ce livre dystopique, comme par exemple La vengeance de Gaïa ou Zacharias et le malade, témoignent d'une sensibilité d'écorché vif qui fait la richesse du livre. Cette sensibilité a pour origine une enfance malheureuse, sujet de nombreux textes. D'ailleurs, les enfants jouent un rôle important dans ce livre, tandis que certains personnages féminins sont dépeints sous un jour contrasté. Tous les personnages, plus ou moins déracinés, tentent d'échapper à l'aliénation sociale.
Père indigne et autres délicatesses est le cri de désespoir fulgurant d'un être humain inquiet pour l'avenir de l'humanité.
