This volume presents the complete works of Jules Mascaron, Bishop of Agen, a renowned French orator of the 17th century. The collection is preceded by a biographical notice, offering insights into Mascaron's life and career within the Catholic Church and the French court.
Mascaron was celebrated for his eloquent sermons and funeral orations, delivered before Louis XIV and other prominent figures. His works provide a valuable window into the religious and political landscape of France during a pivotal period. This edition allows modern readers to rediscover the power and artistry of Mascaron's prose and to appreciate his significant contribution to French literature and religious thought.
