This volume presents the Madrigaux of La Sablière, a prominent figure in 17th-century French literary circles. Edited and prefaced by Prosper Blanchemain, a noted 19th-century scholar of French literature, this edition offers readers a carefully curated selection of La Sablière's poetic works. Blanchemain's preface provides valuable insights into La Sablière's life, his literary style, and the historical context in which he wrote.
The collection includes not only the madrigals themselves but also an appendix, offering a comprehensive view of La Sablière's contributions to French poetry. This edition, published in 1878, reflects a renewed interest in classical French literature and provides a valuable resource for students and enthusiasts of French poetry. The Madrigaux de La Sablière offer a glimpse into the courtly and intellectual life of 17th-century France, making this volume a significant addition to any collection of French literary classics.
