L'homme Poli, Ou La Fausse Bienveillance, Comédie En Cinq Actes Et En Vers, written by Merville, is a classic example of early 19th-century French comedy. This play, presented in five acts and in verse, explores themes of politeness, pretense, and social critique through witty dialogue and engaging characters.
As a reflection of its time, L'homme Poli offers insights into the social customs and theatrical conventions prevalent in French society during the Restoration period. This edition allows modern readers to rediscover a forgotten gem of French dramatic literature, appreciated for its historical value and literary merit.
