Lettres Écrites Du Val-de-grâce, Sur Les Maladies Vénériennes Et Sur Le Traitement Qui Leur Convient, D'après L'observation Et L'expérimentation Pratique... by Henri Marie Joseph Desruelles, offers a detailed insight into the understanding and treatment of venereal diseases during the 18th century. Written from the perspective of a practitioner at Val-de-Grâce, these letters provide a fascinating glimpse into the practical application of medical knowledge of the time.
Based on observation and experimentation, the book explores the prevailing theories and treatments for these conditions, reflecting the medical practices and challenges of the era. This historical text provides valuable context for understanding the evolution of medical science and the social attitudes surrounding venereal diseases in 18th-century France. It remains a significant resource for scholars interested in the history of medicine and public health.
