Les Omrides: Préface Historique à L'athalie De Racine explores the historical context of the Omri dynasty of Israel as a precursor to Racine's famous play, Athalia. F. Martin delves into the biblical narratives and historical accounts surrounding the Omride kings and their impact on the ancient Near East. This study provides valuable insights into the religious, political, and cultural landscape that informed Racine's dramatic interpretation of the story of Queen Athalia. This book offers a unique perspective on the intersection of history and literature, appealing to scholars and enthusiasts of both biblical studies and French classical drama. It remains a relevant and insightful work for understanding the historical and literary foundations of Racine's masterpiece.
