Les Nouvelles Récréations et Joyeux Devis by Bonaventure Des Périers is a collection of witty and entertaining short stories from the French Renaissance. As valet de chambre to the Queen of Navarre, Des Périers brought a keen observational eye and a playful spirit to his writing. These tales offer a fascinating glimpse into the social customs, beliefs, and humor of 16th-century France. The stories, filled with clever wordplay and satirical observations, reflect the intellectual and cultural ferment of the period. This edition offers modern readers a chance to rediscover a classic of French literature, showcasing the enduring appeal of Des Périers' lively and engaging prose.
