LES AUTELS DU DÉLUGE est le récit d'une enquête menée sur le terrain, de Java à Sumba et Sulawesi, à la recherche des dernières énigmes mégalithiques de l'archipel indonésien.
Expert judiciaire et chercheur, Miguel Ángel García Sánchez aborde ces lieux avec une méthode simple: distinguer ce que l'on sait, ce que l'on suppose et ce que l'on aimerait croire.
À JAVA, il gravit Gunung Padang, au coeur de l'une des controverses archéologiques les plus retentissantes de ces dernières années. La thèse d'une pyramide paléolithique a été retirée de la littérature scientifique; le site, lui, demeure. Puis viennent Borobudur, Candi Sukuh, Candi Cetho et Candi Kethek: montagnes sacrées, terrasses, temples et architectures où des traditions successives semblent avoir réécrit un paysage religieux beaucoup plus ancien.
À SUMBA, le mégalithisme n'est pas seulement un vestige. On déplace encore d'énormes dalles pour les morts. Les maisons ancestrales, la religion Marapu, le Wulla Poddu et la Pasola montrent une société où pierre, prestige, mémoire et ancêtres restent étroitement liés.
À SULAWESI, le voyage conduit vers Tana Toraja, où les morts peuvent demeurer parmi les vivants avant les grandes cérémonies du Rambu Solo', puis vers les statues de pierre de Lore Lindu, Palindo et les mystérieuses kalamba.
Et enfin, vers les grottes.
À Leang Karampuang, une scène figurative narrative a été datée d'au moins 51 200 ans. En janvier 2026, Nature a publié la datation d'un pochoir de main découvert à Liang Metanduno: au moins 67 800 ans.
Bien avant Stonehenge. Bien avant les pyramides d'Égypte. Bien avant les premières villes.
Une paume contre la paroi. Du pigment soufflé. Une silhouette qui demeure lorsque le corps disparaît.
J'étais là.
Mais ce livre ne cherche pas une civilisation perdue capable d'expliquer toutes les autres. Il pose une question plus exigeante:
Pourquoi des sociétés séparées par des milliers de kilomètres et des siècles d'histoire ont-elles parfois élaboré des réponses étonnamment proches face à la mort, à la mémoire, aux ancêtres, au pouvoir et au paysage sacré ?
De cette enquête naît l'Hypothèse des Réponses Convergentes: l'idée que des cultures sans contact historique démontré peuvent, confrontées à des problèmes humains comparables, parvenir indépendamment à des solutions symboliques, rituelles ou architecturales ressemblantes.
