Henri De Bernières, Premier Curé De Québec by Auguste Gosselin delves into the life and legacy of Henri de Bernières, an important figure in the early history of Quebec. This meticulously researched biography, originally published in 1902, explores Bernières' pivotal role as the first parish priest of Quebec, shedding light on his contributions to the religious and social fabric of the burgeoning colony.
Gosselin's work offers a detailed account of Bernières' life, from his arrival in New France to his tireless efforts in establishing and nurturing the Catholic Church in the region. Readers will gain insight into the challenges and triumphs faced by Bernières as he ministered to the spiritual needs of the colonists and navigated the complex political landscape of the time. This biography is an invaluable resource for anyone interested in the religious history of Canada and the life of a key figure in Quebec's formative years.
