Françoise Schneider (1894-1944), devient infirmière dès le début de la Première Guerre mondiale.Après son mariage avec l'héritier des aciéries du Creusot, elle ne renonce pas à son activité; au contraire, elle s'engage activement auprès de la Croix-Rouge et veille notamment à apporter son aide aux familles des aviateurs, mécaniciens et ouvriers travaillant pour l'aviation française.Pilote aguerrie, elle fonde les IPSA (Infirmières pilotes et secouristes de l'air).Ses actions sont récompensées par la Légion d'honneur et la Croix de guerre.Son destin s'achève tragiquement lors d'un accident d'avion en novembre 1944.
