Études et Notice Biographique sur l'abbé F. De La Mennais presents a detailed biographical study of Félicité de Lamennais, a significant figure in 19th-century French religious and political thought. This work delves into the life, intellectual development, and controversial career of the influential priest and philosopher. Edmond Robinet offers insights into Lamennais's evolving views on the relationship between the Church and the state, his advocacy for ultramontanism, and his later break with the papacy.
The book explores Lamennais's impact on French society and the broader Catholic world, making it essential reading for those interested in religious history, French intellectual history, and the development of modern political and religious ideologies. Robinet's meticulous research provides a valuable resource for scholars and anyone keen to understand the complexities of 19th-century religious and political discourse.
