La Corporation Des MÃ(c)nÃ(c)triers Et Le Roi Des Violons by Eugène D'Auriac delves into the fascinating history of the minstrels' guild in France and the self-proclaimed 'King of the Violins.' This detailed historical account, originally published in 1880, explores the organization, power, and influence of the Corporation des MÃ(c)nÃ(c)triers, particularly during the 17th century.
D'Auriac meticulously examines the guild's role in regulating musical performance, its relationship with the monarchy, and the various disputes and controversies that arose. Through careful research and analysis, the book provides valuable insights into the social, cultural, and musical landscape of early modern France. A crucial resource for musicologists, historians, and anyone interested in the evolution of musical institutions.
