Francis Asbury: Founder Of American Methodism And Unofficial Minister Of State is a biographical account of Francis Asbury, a prominent figure in American Methodism during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The author, William Larkin Duren, provides a comprehensive look at Asbury's life, from his early years in England to his arrival in America in 1771 as a Methodist preacher. The book delves into Asbury's role in spreading Methodism throughout the United States, his leadership of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and his involvement in political and social issues of the time, such as the American Revolution and slavery. Through extensive research and analysis of Asbury's personal writings and correspondence, Duren paints a vivid portrait of a man who dedicated his life to spreading the gospel and promoting social justice.
