Fully illustrated with 22 illustrations of beautiful birds that describes the actual birds. The Flycatcher and the Dove is the story of a precocious eleven year old girl's three year journey with nesting Brown Crested Flycatchers in her back yard. It starts out with nesting songbirds she names Snowy, Sebastian, and Carmelle. Yes there are three of them. Snowy and Carmelle build the nest and feed the chicks. Sebastian is the father who sings all day in the back yard's trees to protect his territory. This story is also about this young girl's deepening relationship over time with these Brown Crested Flycatchers. She narrates the unique behaviors they exhibit towards her and the special relationships they have with each other. Although this story was especially written for children and young adults, it will endear any reader who reads about these birds, young or old alike.
