Henrietta is an arrogant hen envied by her peers. She appears content as leader on a spacious farm as she strives to please Preston, the inspiring stallion in charge of them all. Others assume that her life is perfect which confuses Henrietta who feels trapped and has a hidden wish, to fly. As First Hen an emptiness inside lingers and her dreams are nothing but folly. A powerful display by the mysterious Eagle in a chance encounter entices Henrietta to seek Him but contact is forbidden by the intimidating Preston. Unwilling to let loose of appearances Henrietta remains focused on her aspiration to one day take a ride on the coveted green truck, Preston's promised ticket to paradise. An unexpected battle with a fox, a usurping New Hen, and a growing distrust of Preston push Henrietta closer to the Eagle and His incredible secrets, but at what cost? Terrible loss and a personal betrayal will push her further but the surprise instructions of the Eagle will test all of Henrietta's limits. How is it possible that the Eagle's impossible promises could be fulfilled, or that a chicken could fly?
