Jonathan Chapel was just a scrawny kid living in a rough neighborhood, trying to keep his sisters safe and fed. When someone takes an unhealthy interest in one of those sisters, Jon is faced with a dilemma. When the local cops work hand in hand with the criminals, and regular folks must hide in terror from the gangs, Jon is forced to take matters into his own hands. This sets off an unlikely chain of events resulting in Jon being recruited into serving the very organization he was trying to fight. The offer is unspoken but clear: join us or die. Jon doesn't want to die. He's only eleven years old.

Jon also discovers unexpected allies as he continues in his quest to protect those he loves. Faced with adult responsibilities and enemies on every corner, Jon needs all the skill and luck he can muster if he is to have any chance at FIGHTING FREE.
