This is a story about a proud but peaceful people who live in a small land. They are forced to fight for freedom when a powerful neighbouring country invades them. The people hide in underground cities and they have an excellent organised resistance army who live in hidden dwellings deep in the forest. There are many brave heroes and a few heroines here too, among them are Sammie, her twin brother, her best friend and an older wise man who knows some magic tricks. Sammie and her brave friends plan to end the invasion in a very surprising and dangerous way. The second part of the book is poems supposedly written by Sammie as she takes on the role as wife and mother.
