The First Book of the Iliad, Battle of the Frogs and Mice, Hymn to the Delian Apollo, Bacchus, or the Rovers, and the Second Book of the Iliad (1831) is a collection of classic Greek literature by the legendary author Homer. The book contains the first two books of the epic poem, the Iliad, which tells the story of the Trojan War. The Battle of the Frogs and Mice is a satirical poem that pokes fun at the epic genre, while the Hymn to the Delian Apollo is a religious poem dedicated to the god Apollo. Bacchus, or the Rovers is a shorter epic poem that tells the story of the god Bacchus and his followers. This edition of the book was published in 1831 and includes translations by George Chapman and Thomas Hobbes. Overall, this book is a must-read for anyone interested in classic literature and the ancient Greek world.Translations From Homer. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
