From the Anthony Award-winning author of Too Far, Panic Attack, The Follower, and the forthcoming Vanessa's Men comes a dark novel of obsession and voyeurism set in an affluent New York suburb.
Karen Daily moves to Savage Lane to start over. Newly divorced and rebuilding her life, she believes she has finally found stability - teaching at the local school, dating again, and trusting the friendliness of neighbors eager to welcome her in.
But Mark Berman has been watching her from the beginning.
Trapped in a marriage he no longer wants, Mark constructs a private world with Karen at its center - studying her routines, interpreting her gestures, convincing himself their connection is inevitable. What begins as fantasy hardens into obsession.
As tensions simmer beneath suburban perfection, Karen realizes the life she stepped into is shaped by hidden desires, covert surveillance, and dangerous assumptions. On Savage Lane, fantasies do not remain harmless for long.
A tense psychological thriller about the thin line between imagining a life and deciding to take it, Fantasies showcases Jason Starr's sharp dialogue and relentless suspense.
Previously published as Savage Lane (U.S. and U.K.) and Phantasien (German edition).
