Ev dons her VR helmet, desperate to find a new home outside of material Earth. Leaving behind psychiatrist parents and mocking gamers, she discovers a mystery-her virtual world isn't as she'd coded. Level 0 was not waiting for her unoccupied. A mind exists there who can control Ev's movements. Worse, in the long years Ev had devoted to creating the virtual reality of Early Exit To The Void, she hadn't expected it to instantiate a blank application form in material reality that fills itself in. In purple fountain pen ink. Ev seeks guidance from a psychiatrist and a religious woman as to what this means. Now Ev's mentors are on a collision course with her creation. As the fate of the mind and Early Exit To The Void hang in the balance, who will Ev believe? The certain truths of the male psychiatrist and the religious woman, or her own growing understanding?
