The use of experimentation in Natural Science teaching is considered essential for learning scientific knowledge. Its critical use is justified as an auxiliary tool to provide students with adequate training for today's society, thus enabling the development of scientific and technological literacy (STL) among citizens. In this sense, the present research aimed to investigate experimental practice as a methodological tool in the process of teaching and learning Natural Sciences to 6th grade students in a public school in Macapá-AP. Based on the analyses carried out, it is suggested that practical experimental activities should be considered great allies for learning Natural Sciences. Furthermore, research combined with experimentation in science teaching is essential for the academic and social education of students, enabling the STL of these citizens. It is urgent to prepare them from primary school onwards to develop a critical view of the world in which they live.
