This study aims to understand why, in a difficult economic climate in France, many young graduates have voluntarily moved abroad to start their professional careers. To do this, we studied their personal and professional motivations for choosing to move abroad. In a context of globalization, many young people have already developed a taste for international life thanks to the diverse experiences they have had during their higher education. Two main factors explain this career choice: -On the one hand, moving abroad allows them to develop skills and gain significant international experience that they can leverage later on. Their main objective is to improve their employability for the rest of their career. -On the other hand, other young people are also attracted by the opportunity to discover a new country and learn the local language and culture. The objective of this study is to compare academic research on expatriation in the literature with young graduates who shared their career experiences abroad during our field study.
