The Exercises of Saint Gertrude: Virgin and Abbess, of the Order of St. Benedict is a book written by Saint Gertrude, a medieval saint and mystic who lived in the 13th century. The book is a collection of spiritual exercises and meditations that were inspired by Saint Gertrude's own experiences of divine love and contemplation. The exercises are intended to help readers deepen their relationship with God and to cultivate a more profound spiritual life. The book is divided into several sections, each of which focuses on a different aspect of spiritual practice. The first section includes prayers and meditations that are designed to help readers develop a deeper understanding of God's love and mercy. The second section focuses on the practice of detachment from worldly concerns and the cultivation of a spirit of humility and self-surrender. The third section includes meditations on the passion of Christ and the mysteries of the Eucharist, while the fourth section is devoted to the practice of contemplative prayer.Throughout the book, Saint Gertrude emphasizes the importance of cultivating a deep and abiding love for God, and encourages readers to seek out a life of prayer and contemplation. The Exercises of Saint Gertrude is a timeless work of spiritual wisdom that continues to inspire and guide readers today. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
