Eventide is that celebration that starts right after Thanksgiving and goes to Christmas. It is celebrated in the fictional town of Emerald, located in northcentral Iowa.
It began as a way to create interest in this small community like their summer festival, Emerald Days did following the 1986 Tornado that pretty much wiped out the business district and doomed the town into extinction.

Eventide started in 1990 and is not reaching its 6th year in 1995. Each year has been better than the last. But what is even more interesting is what is taking place in the lives of two women who call Emerald their home.
Eventide '95 takes up where Eventide ended. Arlene Plummer, recent graduate of Emerald High works For Angela Hakeman, parttime, as she also attends Alcoa Junior College. She is interested in photography but also in two boys, Bret Nelson, and Brian Seagren. She is cautious in relationships, but one is going to pan out better than the other.
Angela Hakeman is Arlene's employer. Angela has challenges of her own. Two suitors take their spot in Angela's love life, off and on. And in both cases Angela finds frustration.
