Essays Upon Several Moral Subjects is a collection of essays written by the English clergyman and moralist, Jeremy Collier, and first published in 1709. The book comprises a series of essays that offer Collier's reflections on a range of moral and ethical issues, including the nature of virtue, the importance of religion, the dangers of vice and immorality, and the role of reason in guiding human behavior. In his essays, Collier draws heavily on his Christian faith, emphasizing the importance of living a virtuous life and the need for individuals to cultivate a strong moral compass. He also critiques various aspects of contemporary society, including the prevalence of gambling and drinking, the corruption of the legal system, and the excesses of the theater.Despite its age, Essays Upon Several Moral Subjects remains a valuable resource for those interested in the history of moral philosophy and the development of ethical thought in the Western tradition. Collier's insights into the nature of virtue and the importance of living a moral life continue to resonate with readers today, making this book a timeless classic of moral literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
