A wonderful chronicle of the generations of the author's family. The reader will find this book filled with drama, romance and adventure; a story about real people and their sorrows, aspirations, loves and losses. Set in the northeast corner of Connecticut; town of Putnam and neighboring towns. Memories of those who came before the author remain alive as their stories are recorded and their lives are resurrected. You will read about Maggie, a woman forced to choose between the man she loves and the husband who'd vanished. A family steeped in tradition; with the changing of the seasons there was always a celebration, the anticipation and preparations. Historical events are recalled, including the Revolutionary War and Civil War. The Putnam Town Farm and the 1955 Flood are remembered by those whose lives were affected. It covers a culture of farming, to the industrial revolution and how this affected the economy and dynamics of the family.
