This story is the sequel to Death Comes To The Dale and includes many of the characters introduced therein. As such the reader is urged to tackle that first. Nevertheless, Death Returns To The Dale has been carefully written as a stand alone book so as to provide enough of the backstory. It sees David Tanner, British Secret Service Officer, returning to Wharfedale in Yorkshire for six months to closely monitor a brilliant but potentially unstable cyber expert, vital to GCHQ, who is tasked with hunting down hackers who have undermined US-UK defence. As Tanner's MI5 boss, John Dawson, succinctly puts it: 'It's a no-brainer, David. Your job. Just make sure that nobody ends up dead this time.' This fast moving tale involves both CIA and Russian intelligence and the hunter of hackers, confined to a lonely cottage above the tiny hamlet of Cray, very much becomes the hunted.
