A routine scenic flight over the Nevada desert becomes a one-way plummet into a world time forgot.
Wildlife photographer Oren Vale and five strangers survive a brutal helicopter crash only to find themselves trapped in a massive, geothermally heated gorge sealed beneath the earth. The air is suffocatingly humid. The plant life is totally unrecognizable. The river runs thick with minerals and the heavy scent of decay.
They soon realize the crash was the least of their problems. The gorge is a perfectly balanced, millions-of-years-old ecosystem dominated by apex predators that humanity has only seen as fossilized bones. A highly intelligent pack of feathered bipeds begins a calculated hunt to isolate the weakest members of the group. As a relentless flash flood threatens to drown the valley floor, the survivors must navigate a lethal landscape of stampeding herbivores and razor-sharp teeth.
Their only hope for escape is an abandoned prospector tunnel hidden on the far side of a sprawling feeding ground. Standing between them and the surface is a territorial behemoth that has ruled this land for decades. With their supplies gone and the floodwaters rising, Oren and the remaining survivors must push past the limits of human endurance to outsmart an ancient apex killer that views them as nothing more than the next meal.
