Delos 5, commonly called the Pelican of Space. Thousands of years ago, on old Earth, there was a very large sea bird called the Pelican which, according to a mathematician of the day, the Pelican could not fly. The only problem was, nobody could speak Pelican, so the bird just kept flying.
Delos 5 is just like the Pelican. According to all current astrophysical data, it cannot exist, it cannot have the type of orbit it does, but Delos 5 just keeps orbiting the star, Delos, not heeding the research. It is this orbital anomaly, and the weird geological makeup of the planet that has made it one of the richest sources of Barainium, the most valuable mineral in human history. Barainium is essential for MAM power generation, it lines all conduits, reactor chambers and storage tanks, without Barainium, nothing works.
For over a century, Galactic Mining, has owned all Barainium mining on Dellos 5, but with strong competition now coming from other sources, profits are down. So, Galactic downsizes operations, throwing thousands of workers on the scrap heap, leading to a group of bandits simply called Outcasts to form.
Keeping the peace is a full-time job, that falls to Space Corps and the Guardian division. Rumours of a new mineral discovery, one that Galactic has sold all rights to, start to filter through, creating more tensions. A young Galactic executive, takes the reins on Delos 5, his plan is simple, force the outcasts into a full-on shooting war. This will open up a clause in their mining lease, allowing the company to close all operations, saving millions. Now the Guardians must not only keep the peace, they must also ensure the Barainium flows.
The scene is set for a confrontation, all the players, Guardians, corrupt administrators and a company desperate to untangle itself from Delos 5, face off. Greed and survival now govern their actions.
