Vi ved mere end nogensinde, men forstår vi livet bedre? Vi lever i en tid, hvor menneskets viden vokser hurtigere end nogensinde. Vi kan forklare hjernens funktioner, udvikle kunstig intelligens og kortl gge universets historie. Men samtidig melder et andet sp rgsmål sig. Er vi også blevet bedre til at forstå, hvordan vi skal leve? Det er udgangspunktet for mine to nye b ger, Filosofien om Den Konstante Evighed og At blive menneske, som udkommer den 1. august. De er ikke skrevet som et opg r med videnskab eller teknologi, men som et fors g på at s tte vores voksende viden ind i en st rre menneskelig sammenh ng. For viden er ikke n dvendigvis det samme som forståelse. Gennem et langt arbejdsliv som psykoterapeut, mentaltr ner, underviser og forfatter har jeg m dt mennesker, der ikke blot s gte bedre pr stationer, men svar på, hvad det vil sige at v re menneske. Den s gen blev forst rket efter en firedobbelt bypassoperation, hvor erkendelsen af, at denne bog måtte skrives, blev helt klar. I Filosofien om Den Konstante Evighed unders ger jeg en enkel, men vidtr kkende hypotese: Hvad nu, hvis tiden ikke er virkelighedens fundament? Hvad nu, hvis Evigheden ikke er uendelig tid, men den virkelighed, som tiden allerede udfolder sig i? Vi oplever ikke tiden direkte, vi oplever forandring. Måske lever vi derfor ikke på vej mod livet, men allerede midt i det. Denne tanke f rer til bogens andet centrale begreb: Livsintelligens. Vi taler i dag om analytisk, emotionel og social intelligens, men ingen af dem fort ller os, hvordan viden, f lelser, ansvar og relationer skal h nge sammen. Livsintelligens er evnen til at forbinde dem til et meningsfuldt hele, at oms tte erfaring til d mmekraft, frihed til ansvar og pr station til menneskelig betydning. Det er også et sp rgsmål, som er afg rende i arbejdslivet. Organisationer kan optimere n sten alt, der kan måles, men tillid, mening, ansvar og menneskelig modning kan ikke reduceres til data.
