The extraterrestrials explore Earth and determine that it will be a suitable place to lay low for a while. Once safely hidden from their enemies, they begin repairs to their battle-scarred ship. Maybe they can ever figure out where they are and how to get home. But when Tobias accidentally kills two humans, no one seems to care that it was in self-defense.
