After years working as a high-level consultant with a soulless multinational business consulting firm, a tired and cynical Paul Blair decides to turn his life upside down and begin anew, systematically ridding himself of everything in his life that tears him down. Paul realizes almost instant success and finds happiness in finally doing things his own way. But before long his joy fades to darkness and sorrow as he finds himself plagued by a series of inexplicable disastrous events that quickly ruin him financially and emotionally. As a man who always loved the outdoors, Paul decides to retreat from a world that no longer makes sense and travels to live survival-style in the wilderness of British Columbia while severing all ties with friends, relatives and the life he once led. After a rough beginning, he finds peace and contentment until dark forces from his past find him and target him once again, and this time with more deadly intent. Through the tireless efforts of an attorney hired by Paul's beloved uncle to find him, Paul is found and learns that the events that ruined his life were not simply misfortune but the sinister handiwork of various individuals both known and unknown to him, some of whom still seek to kill him. Then Paul is given an unexpected gift: he is granted the means to seek revenge in spectacular fashion against all those who wronged him. With cunning and brutal efficiency Paul returns to society, stalks his enemies and exacts his restitution. But has he destroyed his humanity in the process?
