The Craddockstown Novice Chase is a Grade 2 National Hunt novice chase in Ireland which is open to horses aged four years or older. It is run at Punchestown over a distance of about 2 miles (3,219 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in November. For a period the event was classed at Grade 3 level. It was promoted to Grade 2 status in 2003. National Hunt racing is the official name given to the sport of horse racing in the United Kingdom, France and Ireland in which the horses are required to jump over obstacles called hurdles or fences (except in the case of a 'bumper'). The biggest events of the year in the UK is generally considered to be the Aintree Grand National and the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
