The Count's Snuff Box is a historical romance novel set in Washington and Buzzard's Bay during the War of 1812. Written by George Robert Russell Rivers and first published in 1898, the book tells the story of a young American woman named Rosalie, who falls in love with a French count named Raoul de Verdreuil. The two meet in Washington, where Raoul is serving as a diplomat, and quickly become enamored with each other. However, their romance is threatened by the war and the political tensions between their two countries. As the conflict intensifies, Raoul is forced to return to France, leaving Rosalie behind. Despite the distance between them, their love endures, and they are eventually reunited in Buzzard's Bay. Along the way, they face numerous obstacles and challenges, including a jealous rival, a dangerous spy, and the perils of war. The Count's Snuff Box is a sweeping tale of love and adventure that offers a vivid portrait of life during a tumultuous period in American history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
