Through flashbacks, Grier weaves a complex story of how he was a pawn through his mentor, Tommy Wheeler. Tommy's sphere of influence enabled him to recruit young men and women through scouting airports, buses, and train stations. The latter one is where a young Grier is minding his own business and riding the train to work.
