Four stories. Four hauntings., and four things that should have been left undisturbed.
A surveyor arrives in a remote village where the dead seem unwilling to stay buried.
A machine begins to process more than it was ever designed to understand.
Something impossible grows where no second mouth should exist.
And beneath the walls of an old house, hearts are still beating.
The Cholera Dancer and Other Unquiet Things is a collection of four dark, atmospheric horror stories about obsession, memory, folklore, disease and the terrible consequences of looking too closely at things best left alone.
In the title story, The Cholera Dancer, Thomas arrives in a forgotten village carrying maps, instruments and a belief that everything can be explained. But the village remembers the cholera epidemic of 1854 in ways no record can account for, and somewhere beyond the churchyard, a girl with blue bones is still dancing.
From Victorian unease and buried histories to modern technological horror and ancient rituals hidden inside ordinary walls, each story begins with something almost plausible.
Then it moves a little closer.
For readers who love gothic horror, ghost stories, folk horror, strange historical mysteries and tales that linger long after the final page.
