The Northern Wild Goose Flies South is a novel written by Zhang Henshui in 1939, set in the early stages of the Anti Japanese War, telling the story of a group of intellectuals who migrated south after the fall of Beiping. The story of North Wild Goose Flying South tells the tale of a young man and woman who rebelled against feudalism during the transitional period, but the rebellion was not thorough enough. Li Xiaoqiu, the son of the county magistrate of Qingjiang County, was sent to a private school in the countryside. He fell in love at first sight with his husband's daughter Chunhua, but unfortunately Chunhua had already been betrothed to someone else. Both of them intended to be together, but in the end, they could not resist the oppression of feudal forces and broke up in pain, each with their own destiny. Years later, Chunhua, who had already given birth to two sons, reunited with Xiaoqiu, who had become the commander of the revolutionary army, at her maternal home. Things had changed, and even the tide of reform and equality could no longer liberate the long gone years. Chunhua had mixed feelings, but could only watch helplessly as the geese flew north and south
