我无缘结识李建华（一平）先生。今年早些时候，胡平先生约我为李先生文集中的历史评论卷写一个类似序言的文章，因为我做过一点和国际共运有关的研究，而李先生的历史评论卷中主要是和国际共运有关的内容。就写作者而言，李先生首先是一个文学家、诗人和作家，历史并非其本行或者是其最重要的写作对象。然而读完了李先生的这些历史评论文字，我却深感其史见史识之非同凡响。
二十世纪中期到二十一世纪初，中国思想界的一个重要现象是涌现出很多在逆境或者平庸的生存环境下，尤其是在抗拒思想专制和知识封锁中竭尽所能坚持求知和思考的思想者，其先驱如遇罗克和林昭，后继者包括许许多多无名的下乡知青和青年工人。改开之后，一些幸存者得以抓住种种契机离开生活环境中的底层社会脱颖而出，但这个底层中国在物质贫困、精神窒息和政治高压下的堕落和绝望却不但从未远离、反而驱使他们在思考的漫漫长路上跋涉，成为他们生命的原动力。他们以自己的人生经历为支点来看历史，试图回答那个压制了他们一生、也困惑了他们一生的大问题：这个社会、这个国家何以走上这么一条被诅咒的道路？
这些思想者中，很多人对社会的关注和对人生的执着始于对文学的爱好，文学作品的阅读和熏陶伴随着他们的成长过程，文学成为他们个性深处的一种秉性。有人后来成了文学家，更多的人则是由热爱文学始，旁涉哲学和历史，后来弃文从术（各类学术或者科学和技术），但在对社会和人生的态度上仍然保留着浓厚的文青色彩。这是因为在极权制度下，古往今来的文学作品可能是知识、思想和人性唯一比较可能的完整的避难所。很多人不但是从文学作品中知晓一个不同于官方宣传的旧社会、阶级敌人和西方的，而且也是从文学作品中吸取到不同于极权主义的人生观的。我们现在常说抵抗强权，&#
