British painter Cecily Brown (born 1969) presents a selection of new and recent paintings, drawings and monoprints meditating on themes of nature and garden life. These themes have long shaped Brown's formal explorations, which are characterized by vigorous brushwork, a vivid sense of color and dynamic all-over compositions that hold the viewer in an active space of looking. The suite of works is in direct conversation with the setting of the Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens, London, where the affiliated exhibition took place.
