Cease and Desist: An Unwanted Companion is a legal, historical and critical examination of the modern use of Nicholas de Vere's The Dragon Legacy, The Dragon Cede, House of Vere material, Royal Dragon Court material and the wider Dragon Publishing source-field.
Written by Abbe de Vere as rights holder, publisher and literary representative of the Nicholas de Vere material, the book began after concerns were raised regarding Gary Wayne's The Genesis 6 Conspiracy Part II. When his publisher requested specific examples supporting the complaint, the response developed into a substantial evidence-based investigation rather than a simple cease-and-desist letter.
The book traces the provenance of the Royal Dragon Court and related material involving Dragon bloodlines, Grail traditions, the House of Vere, Anjou and Plantagenet genealogy, Tuatha Dé Danann, Scythian and Sidhe traditions, Melusine, Templars and Ring Lords.
Central to the investigation is source-chain reliance: where ideas originated, who published them first, how they were later cited, and when citation or commentary may become substantial reliance on another writer's distinctive framework.
The Royal and Imperial Dragon Court was reconstituted by Nicholas de Vere in 1993, while surviving manuscript material from 1995 provides further documentary provenance predating later works examined in this book.
Rather than looking only at isolated quotations, Cease and Desist examines repeated citations, paraphrasing, terminology, genealogical structures, indirect citation through Laurence Gardner, source displacement and the reappearance of concepts historically associated with Nicholas de Vere and the Royal Dragon Court.
A major section undertakes a chapter-by-chapter review of Gary Wayne's work, asking whether material is directly cited, paraphrased, indirectly sourced, reliant upon an earlier framework, properly acknowledged, or recharacterised outside its original context.
The book also examines the relationship between Nicholas de Vere and Laurence Gardner and the overlap between Grail, Ring Lord and Dragon bloodline material. It considers whether later reliance on Gardner may also lead back into the Nicholas de Vere source-chain.
Beyond copyright, the book addresses decades of sensationalism surrounding the Royal Dragon Court. It examines how material moved through books, websites, radio, podcasts and YouTube, often gaining more dramatic or hostile interpretations as it travelled.
It also challenges the use of genealogy and mythology to portray families through narratives involving evil, Satanism, fallen angels, serpent bloodlines and Antichrist theories, asking whether confirmation bias can replace evidence when material is selected to support a predetermined theological conclusion.
The investigation includes correspondence with Deep River Books, copyright complaints, formal notices, responses, fair dealing, fair use, quotation, substantial taking, paraphrasing, market effect and relevant case law.
Cease and Desist: An Unwanted Companion is therefore more than a rebuttal. It is a copyright dossier, provenance archive, documentary record and legal review of how information can be copied, reframed, sensationalised and detached from its original source.
Its central questions are simple: Who wrote it first? Where did the material come from? Was the original source properly acknowledged? How much changed as it travelled? And when does commentary become reliance?
At more than Five hundred pages, the book brings together books, genealogy, archived material, podcasts, correspondence, copyright analysis and legal argument into one evidence trail.
Ultimately, it is about protecting provenance, defending Nicholas de Vere's literary legacy and putting the record straight.
