Cantos From The Divina Commedia Of Dante is a book that was first published in 1896. It is a collection of selected cantos from the epic poem, The Divine Comedy, written by the Italian poet Dante Alighieri. The Divine Comedy is considered one of the greatest works of world literature and is divided into three parts: Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso. This book includes a selection of cantos from each of the three parts, translated into English by Charles Eliot Norton. The cantos are accompanied by detailed notes and commentary, providing context and insights into the complex allegorical world of Dante's masterpiece. The Inferno section of the book depicts Dante's journey through Hell, where he encounters various sinners and punishments. The Purgatorio section follows Dante's ascent up Mount Purgatory, where he witnesses the cleansing of souls before they enter Heaven. The Paradiso section takes Dante through the celestial spheres of Heaven, where he meets various saints and learns about the divine mysteries of the universe. Overall, Cantos From The Divina Commedia Of Dante is a comprehensive and insightful introduction to Dante's epic poem, providing readers with a taste of the rich imagery, symbolism, and themes that have made The Divine Comedy a timeless classic of world literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
