Dayne has a private rule for adulthood: keep your kindness intact and your life your own.
At Havenwell, that rule begins to fail when Taylor arrives-eager to be liked, impossible to dismiss, and unusually attentive to the details of his life. Their friendship develops almost by accident: long Friday shifts, shared music, morning phone calls, private jokes, confessions, and the ordinary intimacy that grows when two people spend too much time together.
But Taylor does not simply become part of Dayne's life. She begins studying it.
His interests become hers. His ambitions acquire an echo. His relationship becomes something she expects to enter. His wedding becomes an event she somehow believes should bend around her. Every intrusion is small enough to excuse, every demand wrapped in enough vulnerability to make refusal feel cruel.
Dayne keeps searching for the reasonable explanation. Taylor is lonely. Taylor is unhappy. Taylor needs a friend. Taylor means well.
Until those explanations begin requiring more faith than the behavior itself.
As affection gives way to obligation and obligation becomes something harder to name, Dayne discovers how difficult it is to remove someone who has learned that sympathy is the easiest door into another person's life.
Big Blue Googly Eyed Taylor! is a novel about imitation, entitlement, emotional trespass, and the dangerous distance between being needed and being loved.
